The Morelli brothers have reinterpreted their signature Nereide diver’s watch by incorporating a neoclassical motif inspired by acanthus leaves, which symbolize harmony and purity. The stainless steel case is decorated using a traditional artisanal engraving technique, creating depth and a three-dimensional effect. This etching method, dating back to the Renaissance and perfected in Italy, involves engraving a design on the metal, which is then submerged in acid to create the detailed pattern. Hand-applied ink brings out the contrast in the design, covering the entire case, including the lugs and the bezel, with a pattern inspired by ancient Greece.
The minimalist black dial of the Nereide Aquaforte, featuring polished indexes and protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, is paired with hands and markers treated with Swiss Super-LumiNova® Black for readability in low-light conditions. The case back pays homage to Venice, featuring the Lion of Saint Mark, a symbol of strength and wisdom, as a tribute to the city’s rich history.
The Nereide Aquaforte is completed with an aged leather strap made by Tuscan artisans, giving it a refined, worn look. The buckle mirrors the engraving motif on the case.
