At Watches and Wonders Geneva 2025, IWC Schaffhausen expands its Pilot’s Watch line with the Performance Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Digital Date-Month (Ref. IW388801), a bold addition featuring Ceratanium® construction and a digital calendar complication. Developed in-house, Ceratanium® combines the strength of titanium with ceramic’s scratch resistance and matte black finish, offering a unified design across the case, bracelet, pushers, and crown. A black ceramic bezel with tachymeter scale, paired with a textured black dial and gold digital discs, gives the watch a modern, technical edge. The legibility is enhanced through Super-LumiNova® accents on indices and hands.
The digital perpetual calendar shows the date and month via large gold discs at 9 and 3 o’clock, inspired by IWC’s 19th-century Pallweber pocket watches. The mechanism stores and releases energy with precision, automatically adjusting for varying month lengths and leap years. All settings can be adjusted through the crown, despite the presence of four rotating discs.
Powering the watch is the IWC-manufactured 89802 calibre, made of 474 components and featuring a chronograph function with a totaliser at 12 o’clock. With a 68-hour power reserve and a double-pawl winding system, the movement delivers both resilience and accuracy. Viewed through a tinted sapphire glass case back, the blackened and skeletonised rotor and bridges underscore the watch’s technical character and finishing.
