The Ikepod Skypod is a limited edition revival of the classic Ikepod Megapode Chronograph. It features updated components, including new-old-stock movements originally used in the Megapode. The watch’s size has been slightly reduced, with a 46mm titanium case replacing the original 47mm stainless steel one, maintaining its smooth shape. Despite its large size on paper, its design without external lugs and a 43mm lug-to-lug dimension makes it extremely comfortable to wear. The watch is protected by a domed sapphire crystal on top and a porthole sapphire crystal on the back, reminiscent of early Ikepod designs. It has various functional elements like crowns and pushers for operating the watch and its chronograph features.
The dials, redesigned by Stockholm-based studio Claesson Koivisto Rune, capture the essence of the original Megapode but with a modern twist. Available in brown, black, or blue, the dials have a circular brushed finish with white and orange details. The Ikepod signature-shaped hands display time and chronograph functions, including a second-time zone.
The heart of the watch, the LJP 8103 movement, is sourced from unused stock from the Megapode Chronograph era and has been fully serviced to function like new. They offer a 28,800vph frequency and approximately 40 hours of running time, visible through the caseback.
Finally, the Ikepod Skypod is fitted with a newly designed rubber strap that integrates seamlessly into the case, secured with a metal stud and keeper. This model is a highly exclusive release, with only 25 pieces available in each color variant.
