De Bethune continues its exploration of high-performance timekeeping with the new DB28GS Swordfish, a dive watch engineered for optimal legibility and mechanical integrity in low-visibility environments. Building on the legacy of the DB28GS Grand Bleu—the maison’s first sports model introduced in 2019—the Swordfish refines its predecessor’s aesthetic and mechanical concepts. Its 44mm case is in black zirconium, Grade 5 titanium, and hardened stainless steel treated with DLC, achieving a subtle spectrum of black tones accented by De Bethune’s signature blue.
Functionality underpins every element of the DB28GS Swordfish, from its uniquely engineered unidirectional bezel to its manually activated lighting system. A sapphire crystal integrates the minute track directly onto its surface, while the light diffusion mechanism—powered by a gear and miniature dynamo activated via push-button—illuminates the dial from within without draining the power reserve. This mechanical innovation supports dive-time readability, day or night, without compromising the DB2080 movement’s five-day reserve or chronometric performance.
Inside, the DB2080 calibre reflects De Bethune’s emphasis on resilience and precision. A double barrel self-regulating system, triple shock protection, and a temperature-compensating titanium-grey gold balance wheel ensure the movement can withstand the physical demands of diving while maintaining an optimal 28,800 vph rate. Coupled with the ergonomic mobile cradles, crown at 12 o’clock, and a durable rubber strap, the DB28GS Swordfish maintains De Bethune’s philosophy of technical elegance adapted for real-world performance.
