The BALL Watch Company Engineer III Invigorating Serpent is the second release in its Chinese Zodiac series, celebrating the Year of the Snake. Inspired by myths from both East and West, this watch carries deep cultural symbolism. In Chinese folklore, the snake represents beauty and reverence, with legends describing humanity’s ancestors, Fuxi and Nüwa, as half-human, half-snake figures.
For this edition, BALL uses Malachite for the dial, a striking green gemstone with natural patterns, making each watch unique. Used for over 6,000 years, it was considered a symbol of luck and protection across different cultures. The rich green color represents renewal and hope. The dial features self-powered micro gas tubes for visibility in the dark, while the Chinese character for “snake” is painted in Super-LumiNova at 6 o’clock in a traditional calligraphy style.
The 40mm stainless steel case is made from 904L steel, known for its high resistance to corrosion and long-lasting shine. A Swiss automatic movement powers the watch, offering three-hand timekeeping and a magnified date display. With 100-meter water resistance and anti-magnetic protection up to 80,000 A/m (1,000 Gauss), it is built for reliability in everyday wear.
The case back features the Caduceus symbol, originally representing prosperity and peace in Greek mythology, now commonly associated with medicine and well-being. The Engineer III Invigorating Serpent is a tribute to tradition and a wish for good fortune, health, and happiness in the new year.
