Arnold & Son continues its mastery of exceptional materials with the HM Steel Amber, a timepiece where nature and haute horlogerie intersect. At its heart is a dial crafted from 30-million-year-old Baltic amber, a fossilized resin with warm, translucent hues and intricate organic patterns—no two dials are alike. Framed by a sleek 39.5mm stainless steel case, the watch embraces a minimalist aesthetic, allowing the amber’s natural beauty to take center stage.
Sourcing this rare material was no small feat. Arnold & Son carefully selected a 1.6-kilogram block, formed over 30 million years, knowing the treasure within was a mystery until the first cut. Only the finest, most structurally sound amber made the cut, revealing luminous honeyed hues that shift and deepen with light. The result is a dial that glows with golden depth, subtly complemented by an ‘imperial green’ alligator strap.
Inside, the ultra-thin A&S1001 hand-wound calibre keeps time with precision. Measuring just 2.7mm in thickness, this in-house movement delivers an impressive 90-hour power reserve and beats at 3Hz. The sapphire case back reveals its refined decoration, including radiating Côtes de Genève, polished bevels, and a circular-grained mainplate.
With only 38 pieces available, the HM Steel Amber is a rare fusion of natural wonder and Swiss watchmaking excellence—an understated yet extraordinary statement on the wrist.
